Year 7 Information

We are excited about welcoming our new Year 7 cohort in September 2020 and are busily making preparations for this at the moment. If you are one of the 150 students who successfully gained a place at Thomas Telford UTC you will have received a letter inviting you in for one of our Induction Mornings on either the 13th, 14th or 15th of July, and we are very much looking forward to meeting you then.

Please make sure you also read very carefully the information about our school uniform and our cashless system - ParentPay.

As we are unable to stage our Parent Information Evening as planned this term, I invite you to watch our Parent Information video presentation below.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much money will I need to put on Parent Pay?

To give an indication of price at the restaurant, each day there is a Lunchtime Meal Deal option for £2.50. This comprises a main course, desert and a drink. Other items are available and individually priced at both breakfast and lunchtime.

You may also use Parent Pay to make a one-off purchase such as Revision Guides or replacement locker keys – you can log in and add funds at any time to support this.

Is there parking available at the UTC for dropping off and collection?

Like many schools, parking is difficult and the road does have traffic restrictions in place. There will be a designated ‘drop-off’ zone outside the school and we would ask that you use and vacate this as quickly as possible.

Is there a jumper available as part of the school uniform?

Following discussions with parents we have now made the addition of a school jumper to the uniform list. Our suppliers at Lads & Lasses are aware.

Is there a Walking Bus between the bus station and the UTC at the start and end of the day?

If you require for your child to be accompanied by a member of staff from the Bus Station it is imperative that you contact us before September and let us know so that we can plan for this arrangement.

What does my child need for September?

All students are required to have Pen, pencil , ruler, eraser, sharpener, compass, Scientific calculator and protractor all kept in a pencil case which students need with them everyday. Students should also have a dictionary which can be kept at home though students may prefer to use an electronic version. Students are also required to have the Thomas Telford UTC sports kit including a pair of trainers for indoor and outdoor sports. Shin pads are compulsory for Football and football boots are recommended.
